Compression stockings and socks are used to improve circulation, reduce swelling and to reduce the risk of blood clots developing in the legs (Deep Vein Thrombosis – DVT) after a wide range of different surgical procedures, particularly those on the legs, hips, or abdomen, or any procedure that involves general anaesthetic for more than 90 minutes. Compression stockings also provide comfort and support for patients following varicose vein surgery and to people suffering from lymphoedema. These garments can be worn in combination with a compression garment for extra support and compression on the lower limbs or on their own for recovery after liposuction on the ankles and calves.
